Fixed Income - Overview

Fixed Incomes Investments are those investments where the principal, interest rate and duration of the investment are usually known in advance. Fixed Deposits, Bonds, Post Office Schemes, Capital Gains Savings Bonds, Senior Citizen Bonds and Debentures are all various types of Fixed Income instruments. 

With the opening of financial sector new types of Fixed Income instruments have appeared in India: Debt based Mutual Funds, Floater Funds and more are on the way (eg: Inflation Index Bonds and more). To add, taxation issues for each type differ and can significantly impact the net return the bond-holder is able to retain. With so many choices and many more new types on the way, choosing the right one can impact ones net returns in significant matter. Further,  different types of Fixed Income instruments are suitable for different life goals.

This course covers all these issues and some trading-related issues for Fixed Income instruments.

Absolutely no prior knowledge is required and the course is open to all.

5. Bond Ratings and what they mean.
6. Factors that impact fixed income returns.
7. Tax related issues for fixed income instruments.
8. Use of Fixed Income instruments for various life goals.
9. Overview of institutional & government bonds and the bond trading market.
10. Future of Fixed Income instruments in India.
